Claude Money: What You Need to Know

A consideration of Claude Money from Anthropic. See what’s known and how to connect Claude to your money today.

AI is rapidly transforming the personal finance industry, much like it’s disrupting other sectors of our economy.

Earlier this year, Plaid’s State of Intelligent Finance report found that 55% of people have used AI for financial tasks, with a similar number believing that managing money without AI will soon feel outdated.

So far, the market for personal finance AI is fragmented. People are using AI chatbots, AI integrated into search engines and browsers, AI within their banking and money apps, and dedicated financial planning AI services.

Meanwhile, OpenAI says ” more than 200 million people come to ChatGPT every month for budgeting, questions about their investments” each month.

It appears Anthropic has taken notice of consumer interest in this fractured market and is preparing a new feature called Claude Money.

Here’s what we know about it so far, how it might compare with Finances in ChatGPT, and how you can use Claude with your money today.

What is Claude Money?

Claude Money is an unreleased personal finance feature from Anthropic.

In mid-September 2026, feature tracker TestingCatalog discovered the name “Claude Money” within an unreleased “Money” tab in the Claude mobile app.

Two days later, BleepingComputer published screenshots of this dedicated “Money” tab, featuring the headline “Understand your money with Claude” and a prompt encouraging users to “Link your bank accounts and ask Claude about spending, plans, and more.”

Claude Money was subsequently reported by various outlets, including TechRepublic, Cybernews, and The Independent.

Anthropic has not made an official public announcement, nor has it confirmed release dates, supported banking aggregators (e.g., Plaid or MX), regional availability, or subscription tier requirements.

The read-only analytical nature of Claude Money, as reported, reflects the visible UI prompts rather than an officially published specification.

Is Claude Money the same as Claude for Financial Advisors?

While the consumer-focused Claude Money feature remains an unannounced leak, Claude for Financial Advisors is fully official. It was announced on September 14, 2026, the same day Claude Money’s UI was leaked.

The advisor product connects Claude to the software used by registered investment advisors, with partners including Charles Schwab, Vanguard, and BlackRock. In contrast, Claude Money’s screen is designed for individuals to link their own bank accounts.

When will Claude Money launch?

Anthropic hasn’t announced a launch date. As of today, October 13, 2026, Claude Money doesn’t appear on Anthropic’s news page, blog, or release notes. Anthropic also has not specified which countries, plans, or prices the feature will include. Any launch date you read is speculative.

What will Claude Money do?

The only confirmed details come from the leaked screenshots, showing people can link their bank accounts and then ask Claude about “spending, plans, and more.”

We don’t know which banks Claude Money will support or which financial data aggregator will handle bank connections. Reports claiming Claude Money will be read-only or name Plaid as its partner are, so far, speculation.

From within the industry, we know bank connections are challenging. Connections break when banks update their login procedures. Transactions often arrive with cryptic merchant descriptions. A pending charge and its posted version can mistakenly appear as two separate purchases, leading to inaccurate AI spending totals.

How does Claude Money compare with Finances in ChatGPT?

OpenAI and Perplexity both launched similar features before Anthropic.Finances in ChatGPT launched on May 15, 2026, as a preview for Pro subscribers in the U.S. OpenAI links bank accounts through Plaid and supports 12,000 financial institutions.

Plus subscribers gained access on June 25, 2026. On October 2, 2026, OpenAI began rolling out Finances in ChatGPT to Free and Go users in the U.S., adding credit score tracking in the same release.

Perplexity introduced bank connections even earlier. In April 2026,Plaid announced that Perplexity Pro and Max users could connect checking, savings, credit card, and loan accounts.

If Claude Money launches, Anthropic will be months behind both. All three companies follow the same model: the AI company manages the bank connection, and users ask questions within the AI company’s app.

What are the privacy and security questions?

Anthropic has not disclosed how Claude Money will store, retain, or use your financial data.

Anthropic’s current consumer terms outline how Anthropic handles regular chats.

On Free, Pro, and Max plans, Anthropic retains chats for 30 days if you don’t allow model training. If you permit training, Anthropic keeps chats for up to five years. Anthropic has not stated whether linked bank data would follow the same rules.

When Anthropic shares details, three questions are worth asking: Is your bank data used to train models? How long does Anthropic keep your bank data? When you unlink your bank, what happens to the transaction history Claude has already collected?

How can you use Claude with your money today?

You don’t need to wait for Claude Money. Tiller automatically tracks your spending, account balances, and investments in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel from over 20,000 financial institutions.

With your money updated in a spreadsheet, you have several ways to use Claude to navigate your finances:

  • Tiller MCP for Google Sheets connects Claude to your Tiller spreadsheet, allowing you to ask questions about your money in a Claude chat.
  • Claude for Google Sheets runs within Google Sheets, alongside your Tiller data.
  • Claude in Chrome answers questions about the spreadsheet in your open browser tab.
  • Copy and paste a selected range when you want to share only part of your data with Claude.

Tiller keeps your financial data in a spreadsheet you own

Both Claude Money and Tiller begin with a bank connection. Tiller connects through Plaid and Yodlee. The key difference is where your data resides. With Tiller, every transaction lands in a Google or Microsoft spreadsheet you own, even if you stop using Tiller.

Your spreadsheet also holds your personal financial context, including the categories you choose, the corrections you make, the charges you split, the notes you write, and the rules you set. This helps Claude and other AI understand how you think about your money.

Because your data lives in your own spreadsheet, you’re not tied to a single assistant. Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or whatever comes next all work from the same file. You can verify any answer right in your spreadsheet.

Tiller adds your transactions daily, you add the context, and your spreadsheet becomes a source of truth for any AI you use.
